30th AUSTRALIAN SALMON FISHING CHAMPIONSHIP

The 2024 Australian Salmon Fishing Championship committee at Elliston is excited to announce our sponsors for the 30th annual fishing competition, which began on June 1 and ends on August 31.

The committee would like to thank the following businesses for their support: District Council of Elliston, Elliston Waterloo Bay Caravan Park, Elliston Caravan Park, Elliston Hotel, Port Kenny Hotel, Coodlie Park Eco Retreat, Elliston Friendly Grocer, Elliston Saltwater Roadhouse, Limnos Fishing Pty Ltd, Outlaw Wines, Elliston Apartments, Outlaw Wines, Venus Bay Licensed General Store, Anxious Bay Investments, Bakery No.9, Granite Country Outdoors, Port Lincoln Boat Supplies, Mckinnons Maintenance and Mechanical, Western Abalone, Kaye and Grant Rumbelow, Elliston Pharmacy, and Port Kenny Caravan Park.

Organisers look forward to seeing their regular visitors, as well and those who will be visiting the Eyre Peninsula for the first time. The beautiful, pristine beaches between Sheringa and Mount Camel are known to draw people back to the district time and time again.

Those who are keen to enter the competition must purchase their $10 ticket before fishing and will have the chance to win either $2000 as the first prize of the overall three-month competition for the heaviest fish, $1000 for the second heaviest and $500 for the third heaviest. The entry tickets are valid for the entire competition and are available to purchase at local businesses.

There is a weekly prize available for our keen anglers, the $200 mystery weight prize. Each week there’s a random mystery weight, and if your fish weighs closest to that figure, you will win! A maximum of three fish are allowed to be entered per person each day, encouraging anglers to catch and release when the fish are biting.

The committee would like to thank the Elliston Caravan Park owners for volunteering their time to host the weigh in station, which is available between 9am-6pm daily. There is a monthly prize of $50 for those who capture on camera the beauty of our coast while out exploring and fishing. Please email your photos during the competition to info@elliston. com.au. Voting will take place on our Facebook page.
